Description
Original Sketch Of Woman By Austrian Artist Hermine Krail (1907); Custom Framed. The artwork of Hermine Krail (Vienna Austria, 1882-1973) comes up infrequently for sale. The Dortheum in Linz sold a similar sketch of an elderly woman. This charcoal drawing is similarly well executed and exudes the personality of the subject. Not only is it signed, but it is also dated. From my experience with European dating conventions, this sketch was created on October 9, 1907. The outer dimensions of the custom frame are 19.5” x 23”. The opening in the mat is about 11” x 15”. Photos show glare on the glass so I took pictures in different locations. There is some light horizontal warping within the top 1-2” and horizontally just above the signature. No evidence of foxing, tearing, or restoration. However, I have not examined the piece outside of its frame. A beautiful, classy artwork from the estate of a respected and beloved Pasadena leader.
