The R5200, here in version A-2, also shows a sophisticated design in addition to solid workmanship: a built-in antenna trimmer, 4 switchable intermediate frequency bandwidths and an adjustable squelch are the quality criteria of this tube receiver. The receiver achieves the wide frequency range across a band and its frequency stability through a MALLORY spiral inductor tuner in the RF unit. The mechanism of the frequency display is also linked to the tuning axis: When the frequency band is rotated, a glowing slot runs in a lift behind the spiral, translucent dial. In addition to the total of 22 7-pin miniature tubes, the powerful 5R4GY (a two-way rectifier tube) in the power supply stands out in particular.
