146 ITEM NUMBER THIS ITEM NUMBER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SALE OF ITEM PER SAY IT IS OUR REFERENCE NUMBER TO LOCATED THE ITEM QUICKER ONCE SOLD IT WILL CORRESPOND WITH A SMALL WHITE LABLE ON THE ITEM BEING SOLD. Very Rare Heathkit HWA-5404-1 / HWA-5400-1 May well be a ONE OF A KIND - Last Remaining??? Power Supply/Speaker/Clock PROTOTYPE This is Unit #2 This is noted on the front of the unit by an original paper label still on it. Here is what I can tell you & what I could gather from days of research I want to thank the dozens of techs, Heathkit People and former Heath Employees for their input It powers up The clock works and keeps time well. This was owned by a former Healthkit Collector and Employee of Heathkit One party thought this model was originally going to be called the HWA-5404-1 However Heathkit settled on it being called the HWA-5400-1 in production From what I was told Likely a total of about 10 Prototypes were made AT MOST When design was finalized for distribution all were to be taken apart for their parts or destroyed This may be the only remaining one?????? Modified means different things to different people. This may or may not be a modified version of the original being a Prototype The casing reacts with a magnet and thus likely Stainless?? This is a rare survivor. May be the only one out there? Likely because this unit was owned by a Heath Co. Employee A comment was made by a Heathkit Guru during my researching this item. This is his quote. "I am betting if this was saved and the clock lights up the whole unit works as it would have been scrapped out otherwise and probably not worth keeping around" You can weight that for what it is worth if anything. I have no way to test it farther as I am not equipped to do so. Perhaps the Employee of Heathkit that owned this was one of the original techs on the project??? There is little doubt this is rare I say this because everyone I sent an email with pictures got right back to me and wondered what was going to be done with it. A nice item for the serious Healthkit Collector I would think. See pictures for condition. Selling as you see it in the pictures Selling it AS IS... This comes from a higher end ham radio collection and owned by a former Heath Company Employee. We have tons of HeathKit Manuals, Schematics, Parts, & Units that will be going on eBay over a period of time.
